Established in Alanya/Antalya/TÜRKİYE in 2025 by Asst. Prof. Dr. Gürkan ÇELİK, the Sustainable Urban Mobility (SUM) Research Group is more than just a research space; it’s where cutting-edge data meets real-world action. You can find our office on the 4th floor of the Engineering Faculty, in the Computer Engineering Department.
Our vision is to be a distinguished research lab that is open to the world and internationaly recognized for its scientific impact. Our mission is to bridge the gap between academia and the real world by transforming complex theoretical knowledge into practical, data-driven applications for industry stakeholders and everyday citizens. At the same time, we contribute to scientific production at a universal level through colaborations with high-quality academic institutions and researchers.
We aim to drive the technological transformation of information and meet the complex technological needs of modern cities. To achieve this, our lab serves as a vibrant hub for high-impact national and international research, actively participating in EU-funded programs (Horizon Europe, EIT Urban Mobility). We dive deep into data-driven urban planning, multimodal transportation systems, mobility demand forecasting, and machine learning to optimize how people move.
Our goal is to bridge the gap between theory and practice, turning raw information into tangible value for society and sustainable living. Above al, we believe that our diversity is our greatest strength. The SUM Research Group welcomes open-minded and hard-working individuals from al over the world. We strongly encourage diversity and stand firmly against any form of discrimination. Everyone here is treated equaly regardless of their status. There is only a shared passion for science and innovation. Therefore, we are incredibly proud to host briliant minds from all over the globe.
